Yesterday I saw a documentary Seeing In The Dark which I rented from the Library. This documentary is about amateur astronomers and star gazers. I am really exited to see how the world of amateur astronomers has improved. I never thought more about them than mere star gazers. Heck, they make their own telescopes.
These amateurs are doing professional grade researches and discovering planets and even exploding stars. This is a real inspiration. I know these discoveries are not made in a day; but it was shocking to know that they had been watching a single object for years!
This video pays tribute to those amateur astronomers who had spent decades (one must keep in mind that they have family and a different primary job) researching the dark and who had made their dreams come in to reality.
This documentary is based on a book written by Timothy Ferris on the same name. Both the documentary and the book are available in the Singapore library.
Rent it and get inspired.
